Swiss Watch Night at Bennion Jewelers featuring Longines, Oris, and Norqain

Bennion Jewelers

Hands-On Highlights with Swiss Timepieces and the Horological Society of Utah

On a warm evening that hinted summer was right around the corner, the Horological Society of Utah gathered at Bennion Jewelers in Salt Lake City for a night of Swiss watchmaking reveals. The showroom buzzed as members and guests explored new releases and familiar favorites from Longines, Oris, and Norqain—including a few pieces not yet seen by the general public (sorry, no photos allowed!).

As fun as it is to read specs and stare at press photos, watches are made to be experienced on the wrist. A case that looks perfect online can wear larger (or smaller) than expected, and details like bezel action, bracelet drape, clasp comfort, and dial texture only reveal themselves in person—especially under real light. This is why events like this one are truly the most enjoyable. Getting hands-on turns “interesting” into “I get it,” and it’s often the difference between admiring a watch and truly connecting with it.

It wouldn't be an HS-U event without the echo of conversation. Within minutes, the room fell into that unmistakable enthusiast rhythm: Which one was your favorite? Do I really need another diver? I’d buy it tonight… but my spouse might have opinions. It’s the kind of good-natured debate that keeps watch culture alive. No matter the size of your collection—or how long you’ve been in the hobby—there’s something special about sharing wrist-time, stories, and opinions with people who understand the obsession. We left with full stomachs, new memories, and that familiar spark to keep hunting for the next great watch.
